As you are probably aware, today is Giving Tuesday. Established in 2012 as an international day of generosity, Giving Tuesday is a great opportunity to support organizations and institutions that make our communities a better place.
I've long thought this was a great idea. Yes, we should all be showing our generosity all the time. But sometimes its helpful to have a little nudge. Lives get complicated even in years without global pandemics and political strife, and its easy to let our focus get too internal, making us forget or just ignore the larger communities where we live. So Giving Tuesday is a great way to reset and remember how important our communities are to our lives.
As a REALTOR, my community is vital to my business thriving. But personally its also vital to the well being of myself, my family, my friends, and my neighbors. 2020 has brought this fact into sharp focus. We have all needed each other immensely this year to manage the tumult it has brought to all of us. So having a day to remind us of that is a very good thing this year.
I hope you will use this day to remember and support organizations in your community that work to make it a better place each day. And I hope you will join me in support the cause I've chosen this year, the Goodman Community Center. From providing Thanksgiving dinners to needy families to enrichment options for community members to just free summer fun for kids at its splash pad, the Goodman Community Center is a vital part of Madison's eastside community. You can contribute either at their website or from the donation link on my Facebook page.
