Rather than watch what was, apparently, an...interesting presidential debate, I instead chose to enjoy Apollo 13, one of my favorite movies. I have long held the work NASA did from the late-50s to the early-70s as some of the greatest our country has produced. From the Mercury 7 through the final moon landing, the ingenuity and bravery shown by all involved is utterly inspiring.
As we all deal with a pretty chaotic time in our nation's history, I thought I'd recommend a podcast series, 13 Minutes to the Moon. Produced by the BBC, the series is hosted by Dr. Kevin Fong and focuses on two of the greatest space missions in our history, Apollo 11 and 13. Dr. Fong spent hours interviewing surviving participants, including astronauts and mission control specialists. It's truly an extraordinary look at an extraordinary enterprise. Enjoy!
